Chronology of events by Assia Boutaleb in Cairo Newsletter

When the second Intifada started in September 2000, Egyptians from all political tendancies, started to express publicly their solidarity. The Egyptian Comittee in Solidarity with the Palestinian Intifada was then founded as other many groups.
When Israeli troops besieged Ramallah and closed Palestinian Territories on 28 March 2002, Egyptians went down to the streets to voice their protest. Demonstrations in April 2002 resulted in hundreds of injured and several deaths.
Solidarity actions and demonstrations have been now going on with concern for both Palestine and Irak.
